Faf Du Plessis Retirement Letter

Faf du Plessis made his test debut in 2012, where he became just the fourth South African to score a century on debut. A test career that spanned close to nine years and 69 tests, is a remarkable journey in professional sport. As a captain he will be remembered as an inspirational leader who was always looking to take the game forward. He played many memorable innings throughout his career, none more so than a century on debut and an inspiring 134 while chasing 458 in the fourth innings against India. Always leading from the front, he became the first captain to score a century in a day/night Test. As a leader of men who led by example, he played a significant role in rebuilding South Africa’s Test team. Although he is lost to the test team, he will play an important role in South Africa’s T20 team for the next couple of years and we are sure there are still many inspiring contributions to come.
